Monkey MiaMonkey Mia is located 850km North of Perth and only a short drive Northeast from the town of Denham. It is just a 1 hour and 30 minute flight with Skippers Aviation from Perth. The region is located within a unique section of World Heritage area Monkey Mia on Australia's Coral Coast, is close to a vast number on unique attractions and unparalleled to anywhere else in the world. It has an excellent reputation for fishing, sunshine and a relaxed atmosphere. Travellers who love nature will be delighted at the huge variety of animal and bird life found nearby. The dolphins attract enthusiasts each year; Marine Biologists visit Monkey Mia to study the friendly dolphins in their natural habitat and come from around the world to experience nature in the raw. The small group of dolphins that come into shore a part of a much larger pod of 300 that live further out in the bay. These beautiful Bottle-nose dolphins come of their own free will to interact with humans on a daily basis. Close to Monkey Mia is the stunning Shell Beach at L Harridan Bight, The Lookout and Dugong breeding area of Eagle Buff and all the natural wonders of the Shark Bay world Heritage area and Francois Peron National Parks. Dolphin Information Centre The Dolphin Information Centre was opened in the 1980's which dramatically increased the number of visitors to Monkey Mia. In 1990 the waters Monkey Mia were officially declared a Marine Park and in 2001, the Monkey Mia Visitors Centre was opened by the WA Government Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM). |
