Media Release Skippers' Fuel Levy Rises with Prices As fuel prices continue to rise, Skippers have announced today that it will increase its temporary fuel levy from $6 to $8.
Skippers' CEO, Rob Swann, was disappointed at having to implement the increase. “As fuel is a key determinant of airfare prices, the aviation industry is highly sensitive to costs in this area.” Mr Swann said.
“We spend considerable effort negotiating the cost of our fuel, but there is only so much that can be done to insulate our customers against the pricing extremes we are currently experiencing. We apologise to our customers for having to apply (least of all increase) the levy, but assure you that we will continue to closely monitor the cost of fuel for any opportunity to reduce or remove this charge as soon as possible.”
The surcharge on all airfares will be effective 27th August 2004.
