Infants and Children

Infants

Infants are classified as being less than 3 years old (not yet reached their 3rd birthday).

They should travel on their parent or guardian’s lap (although a separate seat can be booked for an infant 2 years of age or older).

Each infant must be accompanied by a separate adult.

Infants who do not occupy a seat travel free of charge and need to be added to the reservation by calling Skippers Reservations on 1300 729 924 during office hours.

Children

Children are classified as being between 3 years and 12 years of age (not yet reached their 13th birthday).

Passengers 13 years of age and over are deemed to be adults.

Children must be declared at the time of booking or the ticket may be treated as being a false declaration and therefore deemed void.

Unaccompanied Minors (UM)

An unaccompanied minor (UM) is a child aged 5 to 12 years of age inclusive, travelling without the supervision of a person 15 years of age or older.

Children under 5 years of age may only travel if accompanied by an adult or company escort.

An unaccompanied minor form MUST be completed prior to check in and the completed form handed to Skippers check in staff. The unaccompanied minor form requests the contact details of the person collecting the child on arrival at their destination. The person collecting the child must be 18 years or over and be able to supply photo ID. If Photo ID can not be provided at time of collection the child can not released from our care and staff will take steps to either return the child to their Guardian or contact local police for assistance. Check-in staff will attempt to contact the person collecting the child at time of check-in to ensure they are aware of the arrival time for the flight and the requirements for photo ID.

If contact can not be made at this time the child will be refused travel and fare will be forfeited.

The unaccompanied minor form is available online – Click here to download.

All unaccompanied minor bookings MUST be booked through Skippers Reservations Department on 1300 729 924 or the ticket may be treated as being a false declaration and therefore deemed void.

Children aged between 12 and 15 years can travel as unaccompanied minors only at the request of their parent or guardian. If no request is made, there will be no special arrangements.
