Skippers Announce Additional Midweek Flight
for Leonora

Skippers have today announced the introduction of a second return flight each Wednesday between Perth and Leonora.

Demand for flights to Leonora has steadily increased since the service's commencement in January 2006. Skippers currently offer services once per day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and twice each Thursday to Leonora as part of the State Government regulated Northern Goldfields network. This new flight appends the current schedule to incorporate two return flights per day between Perth and Leonora every Wednesday.

Skippers' CEO, Rob Swann, commended the support given by local operator, St Barbara Mines, to Skippers' Leonora air services. “The progress being made in Leonora is very encouraging. Our ability to offer this additional weekday flight has been largely driven by the commitment of St Barbara Mines to our scheduled RPT service. Recent increases in our flight frequency have essentially been attributable to St Barbara's growing Leonora operations and we are very pleased with the way we've been able to successfully work together to effectively meet their operational needs,“ Mr Swann said.

Mr Swann highlighted the benefits of this collaborative approach to the local community. “Continued support from companies like St Barbara allows us to offer increased access to specialised services, particularly in health, community and business development, that would otherwise be unavailable to people in remote areas. We believe that supporting regional air services is an ideal vehicle for resource companies to add significant value to the communities in which they operate.”

The revised schedule will come into effect on Monday, 18th September 2006.
